The Be Car Care Aware (BCCA) program was launched in Canada in 2004 by the the Automotive Industries Association of Canada, with the support of its sister program in the U.S. operated by the Car Care Council.
The program promotes the benefits of regular vehicle maintenance and repairs by providing information, tools and resources to both the public and the automotive service and repair industry.
By building awareness and helping Canadian consumers make informed decisions about how to care for their vehicles, the BCCA program focuses on three key messages:
- Dependability and safety;
- Protecting the environment; and
- Maintaining vehicle value
With advanced technological systems, today’s vehicles are computers on the road requiring skilled and knowledgeable maintenance and repair. The BCCA program provides reliable and unbiased information to empower drivers when it comes to car care.
BCCA recognizes that those working in the service and repair sector serve a vital role in educating customers and helping them make informed decisions on how and when to repair their vehicles. BCCA provides valuable tools and resources to individuals and businesses in the industry to share with their customers on the importance of vehicle maintenance
The Automotive Industry Association of Canada (AIA) operates BCCA and is the national trade association representing the automotive service and repair industry in Canada, a $19.4 billion industry that employs more than 420,000 people.
AIA’s mandate is to promote, educate and represent members in all areas that impact the growth and prosperity of the industry.
AIA represents manufacturers, re-builders, manufacturers agents, warehouse distributors, national distributors, buying groups, wholesalers, machine shops, retailers, and through its councils, the interests of collision repair shops and automotive service and repair outlets.
This includes the Be Car Care Aware Committee comprised of BCCA sponsors. Sponsors are invited to have a representative on the committee which meets two to three times a year. Having an established committee in place strengthens the program while providing focus, direction and stronger industry input.
